Who is this ‘Dave’ character?

Well, without getting all existential about the question (I’m sure there will be time for that later), the Dave in question is me – David Allsopp – a writer from the greater western suburbs of Sydney. I was born at a very young age and have made a point of annoying people in the most endearing way possible ever since.

What is this ‘something different’ that he is doing?

Having recently hit the age of 30, I’ve realised that the best way to avoid the family foible of inertia is to remain open to trying new things – keeping life interesting and seeing what this big blue world of ours has to offer. I’m not getting any younger, so I may as well get on with it and have a crack at all those things I’ve always wanted to try. If a friend of mine is going to some interesting event or activity that I wouldn’t normally do, then I’m going to tag along and see what it is all about. At the very least I’ll have an interesting anecdote to write, and you never know – I might just discover a new passion.

I’ve dabbled at writing all sorts of different things over the years, and have not always found an avenue for making those scribblings available for consumption. This blog will also be a handy repository for all manner of Dave ephemera – from short stories to sketches, discussions to digressions. If this blog has a mission statement it is to simply be all Dave all the time, trying something new (whether it be a new experience or style of writing) and putting it out there. It might not all work, but it is in the act of trying that we learn new things and grow as individuals.
